Cecil Fielder was a power hitter that was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in 1985, but most of his rookie cards come from 1986.
You might know the fact that Cecil Fielder is also Prince Fielder’s father, and their story is unique in baseball. They’re the only father and son duo to have 50 home run seasons in MLB.
If you’re looking to find the best Cecil Fielder rookie cards, then you’ve come to the right place.
Top Cecil Fielder Rookie Cards
These are the best Cecil Fielder rookie cards you can choose from.
1986 Topps Cecil Fielder RC #386
The first card that deserves a mention on this list is the 1986 Topps Cecil Fielder rookie card, numbered #386.
Topps was the industry standard when it comes to baseball rookie cards back in the 1980s. There wasn’t nearly as much competition when it comes to card brands, so Topps (and a couple of other companies like Donruss or Fleer) absolutely ran the show.
If you like simplistic cards without too many graphical distractions, then this one will appeal to you. The image takes the center stage, while the black, white, and light-blue borders and graphical elements certainly complete the card.
You should also be able to get it fairly cheap, and the main reason for that is easy availability.
As you may know, 1986 was right at the start of the infamous Junk Wax Era, an era where cards were printed at large. So much so that the supply far exceeded the demand, meaning there are still hundreds if not thousands of these still in circulation.
Obviously, top-graded cards are not going to be that easy to come by, though.
There’s also the Topps Tiffany version that you may consider:
This one is going to be more expensive than the base Topps card and it’s possibly the most valuable Fielder rookie card overall.

1986 Donruss Cecil Fielder RC #512
The other mainstream card that deserves a mention here is the Donruss card.
Since there wasn’t a lot of competition around at that time, many collectors were struggling to choose between this Donruss card and the Topps one, but since they were so abundant, many also chose to simply get both.
Now, this card is very 1980s in many respects, especially the graphical elements on the card. If you like this type of style, then you’re going to enjoy this one. It does have more going on for itself in terms of style than the Topps card.
The values for the Donruss card are going to float somewhere around the mark of the base Topps card.
If you really can’t decide which one you like better, there’s no harm in getting both considering they’re so widely available…

1986 Fleer Cecil Fielder RC #653
This card is going to split opinions.
You might love the dual design of the Fleer card with Cory Snyder also on the card (by the way, this was also Snyder’s rookie card, so you’re killing two birds with one stone here).
On the other hand, you might prefer a card with only Fielder on it, so you might want to consider other options if that’s the case…
In any case, the overall styling of this card is also pretty simple. There’s not really much going on apart from the frontal portraits of both Fielder and Snyder on the card.
You’ll probably find many ungraded cards of this type, too. Some might also have autographs, in which case, you should be a bit wary since some of those cards could be knock-offs or fakes.
You should be able to find this card easily.

1986 O-Pee-Chee Cecil Fielder RC #386
As you may know, in the card collecting world, you have Topps and O-Pee-Chee – both cards look very similar at first sight.
The main difference here is that O-Pee-Chee was made for the Canadian market, while Topps cards were designed for the American market. This is the main difference between the two, otherwise, they look the same.
There are only tiny differences between the Topps card and the O-Pee-Chee card, such as the logo, as well as the description on the back of the card. It is written also in French for the Canadian market.
What about the prices?
Well, the O-Pee-Chee card is a little bit harder to come by when compared to the Topps card, so you might have to spend a bit more to get it, especially in higher conditions.

1986 Blue Jays Fire Safety Cecil Fielder RC
This card is very interesting.
It was designed to include only Toronto Blue Jays players, and it was a part of the “Fire Safety” card set, which was sponsored by the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs.
The purpose of these cards was to bring more awareness to fire safety, so they were distributed to Toronto Blue Jays fans on a regular basis. Some of these cards have been kept and they’re today being sold.
Usually, it is pretty hard to find a card like this but the good news is that it’s still not very expensive, so if you can find one and you’re able to get a good deal, go for it.
1986 Blue Jays Ault Foods Cecil Fielder RC
Here’s another extremely rare and hard-to-find card: the Blue Jays Ault Foods rookie card.
Apparently, there are only three cards of this type that are out there and that have been graded by PSA, according to the official PSA records.
Because of this fact, you will probably struggle to find any quality listings for this card. There might also be some ungraded cards of this type, but the likelihood of finding one is pretty low.
